Siren (Ambient) (1999) — Robert Scott Thompson — Long-form Ambient Music

Siren (Ambient) is the an evocative long-form ambient work based on the female voice. The entire hour-long work is created from recordings of jazz vocalist Mary-Jo Bischoff. Through the use of composed models and their development using computer music techniques, unique textures and sounds were developed. These materials, used for the avant-garde computer music (electroacoustic) work Siren were recast, according to probabilistic methods into a subtle, airy, ambient soundscape.

Ethereal and majestic, delicate and evocative, strange and unusual, a third version for ambient installation has also been created.
